Meet Our Technicians!
Eric Larson
Eric Larson grew up in Winona, attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and graduated from MSC Southeast in Red Wing from the Band Instrument Repair program in 2006. Eric has been repairing instruments right here in La Crosse since graduation and joined the Leithold Music repair department in 2024. He is currently focusing on woodwind repair but has many years experience in brass as well. Eric is still very connected with the school in Red Wing serving on the Band Instrument Repair Advisory Board where he helps maintain the program training the next generation of technicians.
Eric is a musician in the community as well, playing in the La Crosse Concert Band in the summers as well as the La Crosse Area Wind Symphony and the Da Capo Musical Reunion Concert Band, where he serves on the board.
Dedrick Benz
Dedrick Benz graduated from Minnesota State College Southeast's Band Instrument Repair program in Red Wing in 1996 and has been performing woodwind and brass repairs for Leithold Music ever since. He also plays bass guitar in several local groups including the Bus Boys.
John Helm
John Helm is originally from Southwestern Michigan, and a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Music on tuba with a minor in Art. John also graduated from the Red Wing Technical College where he studied Band Instrument Repair and has been a repair technician since 1993 with a focus on brass and woodwind repairs. John joined Leithold Music in 2007 as the Brass Repair Technician, but also works as a woodwind and percussion technician, school service representative, repair clinician, and test fitter for beginning band students.As a local musician, John currently performs with the La Crosse Concert Band, Da Capo Musical Reunion Concert Band, Winona Brass Band and various other part time small brass ensembles. John also supports several area music ensembles by serving on their board of directors as well as hold a position on the executive board.
Ty Striebel
Ty Striebel is from the Fox Cities Area and has worked and repaired in Music Store Industry close to 30 years. He attended Red Wing Southeast Technical from 2004-2006 for the Violin, Guitar and Archtop Programs. He has worked in La Crosse for the last 20 years advocating for Orchestral Programs and getting instruments into the hands of those students who need them most.
Ty plays Bass in many local bands like Motherloaf, OwlBeard and Clench.
