Inspired by Johann Heermann’s 1630 prayerful text, translated by Catherine Winkworth in 1858 as “O Christ, Our True and Only Light,” Patricia Mock has paired her update of this lyric with original music arranged by Faye López. The optional cello part adds an enticing warmth to this plea for Christ to rain down mercy and grace on the world.
