A progressive and musical way to learn to read the tenor clef. Beginning with only 5 notes in quarter and half note rhythms, the book slowly progresses by adding one note at a time while reviewing rhythms and key signatures. It emphasizes musical development with a limited number of pattern exercises and as many real musical compositions as possible. In addition to a review of Italian musical terms, the book uses less common German and French terms that will be encountered in advanced literature. A glossary is provided for these terms. A selection of standard orchestral excerpts in the tenor clef that are most apt to occur in an audition are included at the end.
