Come Sing This Round with Me - Padre Martini/Greyson SAB/TBB
One of the most important musicians of the century, Martini, often referred to as "Padre Martini," was born in Bologna on April 24, 1706. His father was his first teacher and his early years were spent in mastering the violin, harpsichord, and theory, as well as studying theology and philosophy with the monks of the San Filippo Neri. He passed his novitiate and was ordained in 1722, following which he returned to Bologna where he became maestro di cappella of the Church of San Francesco. Here he gained a reputation as a teacher and composer, and scholars and musicians flocked to him from all parts of Europe. His publications cover treatise about music as well as many vocal, choral, and instrumental compositions. He died in 1784.
